Fire Training Courses

Which training is right for us?

In the pursuit of safety and preparedness, our fire training courses are meticulously designed to meet and exceed the Australian Standard AS 3745 – Planning for Emergencies in Facilities. This standard is pivotal in ensuring that organisations across Sydney are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and respond to fire emergencies effectively.

Why AS 3745 Compliance is Essential?

AS 3745 sets the benchmark for emergency planning, emphasising the need for a structured and systematic approach to managing emergency procedures and evacuation plans. Compliance with this standard is not just about adhering to regulations; it’s about ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in your facility.

What You Will Learn

Our courses provide comprehensive training that covers:

  • Emergency Identification and Planning: Understanding potential fire emergencies and developing tailored response plans.
  • Evacuation Coordination: Techniques and strategies for safe and efficient evacuation.
  • Communication Protocols: Establishing clear lines of communication during an emergency.
  • Roles and Responsibilities: Defining the roles of Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members and general occupants.
  • Skills Development: Practical training in fire safety equipment usage, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.

Difference between non-accredited and accredited Fire Training

Non-Accredited Fire Training

Definition: Non-accredited fire training courses are not formally recognized by national education authorities and do not lead to an AQF qualification. These courses are often tailored to meet specific organizational needs or provide general knowledge and skills related to fire safety.

Key Features:

  • Flexibility: The content and delivery can be highly customized to suit the specific needs or scenarios of an organization.
  • Practical Focus: These courses can be more practical and scenario-based, focusing on the specific risks and procedures relevant to a particular facility or industry.
  • No Formal Assessment: Participants may receive a certificate of completion, but there is no formal assessment, and the certificate is not recognized under the AQF.
  • Quality Variation: The quality and depth of training can vary significantly, as these courses are not subject to the same regulatory oversight as accredited courses.

Acceptance Under AS 3745: Non-accredited fire training may be acceptable under AS 3745, particularly for general awareness training or specific procedural training that does not require a nationally recognized qualification. It’s important, however, to ensure that the training adequately covers the elements of emergency planning and response as outlined in AS 3745.

Accredited Fire Training

Definition: Accredited fire training courses are officially recognized and meet the standards set by national regulatory bodies, such as the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). These courses lead to a qualification or Statement of Attainment that is nationally recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Key Features:

  • Standardized Curriculum: The content, delivery, and assessment methods are standardized and must adhere to the specific training package requirements.
  • Formal Assessment: Participants undergo formal assessment and, upon successful completion, receive a certification.
  • Quality Assurance: Accredited courses are subject to regular audits and reviews to ensure quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Recognition: Provides a formal qualification that is recognized across Australia, enhancing the professional development and credentials of participants.

Acceptance Under AS 3745: Accredited fire training is more likely to be accepted under AS 3745, especially when formal qualifications are required for specific roles within the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), such as wardens or ECO leaders. The formal nature and national recognition of accredited training ensure that the training has met rigorous standards, aligning with the requirements of AS 3745.
